SEPHORA ROUGE CREAM LIPSTICK | ingenious

Sephora Rouge Cream lipstick in "ingenious". $15 sephora

let me introduce you to my favourite lipstick at the moment. Sephora Rouge lipstick in "ingenious" is a perfect nude pink-y brown beige shade that is on trend right now. the colouring is a bit off in the photos as to how it is in real life, otherwise i consider this the perfect Kylie Jenner shade.

normally this would never be a choice I'd make when choosing a lipstick, generally i stick with rose shades, nudes or pinks. when i put this on for the first time i basically fell in love. it was more flattering than i would have expected it to be. and it reminds me of that iconic 90's heavy lipliner brown lip look. (but obviously not as bad....). My favourite way to wear this lipstick is paired with a dramatic winged liner. super classic, but still very pretty and appropriate for any occasion (I.E dates, shopping, out for a meal, ......). i think this would suit almost every skin tone.

i am not wearing a lipliner in the last picture, which is why it looks so messy on me (apologies.) but generally i do wear a mauv-y lip liner such as 009 Mauve Shimmer by Rimmel. or a nude pink.

what do you guys think of this shade?

IPSY GLAM BAG | "DESTINATION BEAUTY" MARCH 2014

it seems like the last month went by extremely fast. it is now march, which means another Ipsy Glam Bag arrived in the mail this morning. i always look forward to the surprise of this subscription, i'm usually impressed with the products included.

for anyone who doesn't know, Ipsy Glam bag is a monthly subscription of samples/full sized beauty products. for the USA it only costs $12.00 per month, whereas for us Canadians the bag costs $15.00. in my opinion this is still a good deal considering the products are often worth way more than what you pay anyways. Michelle Phan distributes the bags herself, which is ultra cool. at least you have the confidence to know that a pretty well known beauty guru is putting together the bags, so you know that you won't be receiving.."crap".

this month's bag theme was "destination beauty" and what was inside was....

  • NYX "love in rio" eyeshadow trio in shade:  segredos de giselle $6.00 full size
i own one of these trios, and i really love them. the pigmentation is pretty good, and the eyeshadows are pretty fine. i love this specific shade because they are all neutrals, and these are the shades that i wear on a daily basis. i know for a fact i'll be reaching for this bad boy quite often. (this product is perfect for travelling)
  • Chella eyeliner pen in shade: indigo blue $24.00 full size
i'm not sure how i feel about the bright blue liquid liner, it is something completely out of my comfort zone, i never thought a bright blue would look good with a dark brown eye.. but i guess we'll have to find out. i might even be pleasantly surprised!
  • bareminerals "marvelous moxie" lipstick in shade: get ready sample size
i love this shade, it is a really really beautiful rose coloured pink. definitely a shade that is right up my alley. too bad this is only a sample size, but it will give me a good opportunity to try it out before spending the big bucks on the full sized lipstick. plus i've heard really good things about the bareminerals  marvelous moxie lipsticks!
  • pixi "flawless beauty" primer | sample size. full size is $26.00
this primer claims that it's "an even skintone face primer. adds a youthful glow. hydrating." i personally am looking forward to trying this out. i have been on the hunt for a primer to add to my must have collection. i have gone through plenty of primers as well... and i'm not a fan of spending $40 + on a primer that is "just okay". fingers crossed that this one fits the bill! i personally love pixi products.

so all in all, this months ipsy glam bag is pretty good. i'll be honest in saying that i wasn't completely "wow'd" or absolutely blown away at the products. i am, however, looking forward to trying the bareminerals lipstick. i do believe they did a decently good job this month. i'll give them a thumbs up.

i hope you all are having a decent tuesday! xoxoxoxo

M.A.C SPRING 2014 | A FANTASY OF FLOWERS

M.A.C mineralize skinfinish in shade "Stereo Rose" $35.00
M.A.C lustre lipstick in shade "Snapdragon" $19.00

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, LOVELIES!

HOLY COW YOU GUYS! before i get started i do have to say that i NEVER buy M.A.C products. i'm always purchasing drugstore/highstreet makeup and am completely content with the cheap stuff, but let me tell you... i'm converted! i went on the M.A.C cosmetics website yesterday, just because i was curious... and then i saw their Spring 2014 line called "a fantasy of flowers" which i immediately knew would be right up my alley! everything was just so beautiful on screen. they have 2 colour ranges, the first being all warm tones (IE pinks and peaches) and the other cool tones (blues, greens, purples). when i went to my nearest mall last night i literally BEE LINED it for the M.A.C station to have a look at the products for this line. a lot of it had already been sold out, but the two main products i wanted were still there.
as a beauty blogger, one may be surprised at the fact that i only own one other M.A.C lipstick and that one is "Hue" and i've had it since my grade 12 graduation.. so.... i figured it was time to start building up the collection.

M.A.C's mineralize skinfinish's are HUGE cult favourites amongst the beauty blogging/vlogging world, and i've literally been lusting over them. they add just the perfect amount of highlight to make your skin glow. when i first saw this, i honestly thought it was a little bit too dark, but when swatched it is a super pretty coral/peach shade. so lovely for the spring. i'm so happy to finally own one of these, and i'll probably be getting more... *sigh*. the clerk at M.A.C said that this particular shade is a cult favourite, and they have had it before in other collections, but people go crazy when it comes back. i can definitely see why. IN LOVE.

you guys should know me by now when it comes to lip products and my scary obsession with them. this particular shade i saw on the website and loved it instantly. this one is called "snapdragon" and it's a blue-toned pink-y mauve colour. it's kind of hard to describe. but i'm trying to expand the shades of my collection because i always tend to sway towards rose toned lipsticks. and this one is really nice and sheer, so it is not over powering on the lips or too bright. -a perfect Valentine's day lipstick by the way... - the other one i wanted was "rose lilly" but that one was sold out online AND in my nearest M.A.C counter. also- "snapdragon" is also sold out online. i'd get to your store QUICK for mine only had 3 left of this one.

as you can see from the swatches how sheer the lipstick is, and how LOVELY the skinfinish is on the skin. these are definitely staple items for spring. and i figured since i don't have a valentine this year, i might as well treat myself ! am i right ?

anyways, A BIG HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to you guys, i'm sending lot's of love your way! xoxoxoxoxo. hope you all get spoiled !

BRAND FOCUS | rimmel

hello dolls. i recently watched Essiebutton's Bourjois brand focus video and that gave me the idea to do the same on blog form. i've recently been reaching more and more to the Rimmel stand because i have been thoroughly impressed with their products. i'll admit that i never thought Rimmel was a decent brand, i think i had one bad experience with a product and then dismissed it all together. WRONG. very wrong and young i was. Rimmel is absolutely amazing, and their selection of products just keeps growing and getting better and better. voila! i have so many Rimmel products that i honestly forgot that i even had.. but i love it all.
Rimmel Apocolips Lip Lacquer

i own a large amount of rimmel lip products especially. i love the formula that their lipsticks have, and i've recently been introduced to the Apocolips Lip Lacquers when they FINALLY came to Canada. trust me.. i was counting down the days. i have 3 shades in the Apocolips, 3 shades in the Kate Moss lipsticks and 3 shades of their Moisture Renew lipsticks.. apparently i buy things in trios. aha.

APOCOLIPS :
  • 301- galaxy, a beautiful plum berry colour which is perfect for fall
  • 401- aurora, a really nice coral pink shade which adds a great pop on the lips
  • 101- celestial, a rose colour that is perfect for every day wear
KATE MOSS :
  • 109- a matte orange/coral colour, great for summer or spring.
  • 102- a matte baby pink -your lips but better- colour.
  • 06- a bright fuschia colour, also amazing for summer.
MOISTURE RENEW :
  • 700- nude delight, the perfect nude.
  • 180- vintage pink, a mauve/pink which is gorgeous on the lips
  • 300- rose blush, beautiful medium pink, with just a touch of sheen/shimmer.
Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow stick - 006 paranoid purple

i don't own many eyeshadow/liner pencils and i know adding a bright pop of colour at the lash line is a really popular look right now. i have dark brown eyes and it is known that purple helps to make brown eyes POP. i really do like this shade, it's edgy which i'm fond of. it says that it's 24/hr waterproof, i found that it did last alright, but it isn't THAT waterproof. i still like the product though.

MY FAVOURITE FOUNDATION/POWDER COMBINATION is the Rimmel "Wake me Up" foundation paired with the "Rimmel Stay Matte Powder".  the foundation has just the right amount of shimmer in it to look natural on the skin, and dewy, yet it has very buildable coverage. i will continue to buy this foundation, it is amazing. the Stay Matte Powder does just what it says, and helps keep your makeup in place for majority of the day. it's hard to find a face powder that doesn't cling to your nasty dry patches on your face, and this powder is just right.

Rimmel was an underdog brand for me for a long time, and i'm so happy to have "re-discovered" it. they offer a lot of amazing products and you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for them.

please recommend your favourite rimmel products in the comments so i can pick them up and try them out. hope you all are having a nice wednesday. xx

BEAUTY SPLURGE | chanel rouge coco - gardenia

not ever have i purchased a high end lipstick in my life... my mom bought Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in their iconic "Madamoiselle" and i'd just stare at the packaging and just want to be able to have one for my own. the cold and black casing is literally mesmerizing, and i finally gave in, and bought my own. i never would think to buy a $40.00 lipstick for that exact reason... $40.00. that is an insane amount of money for a small piece of make-up. i'd much rather go to the drugstore and pick up a revlon lipstick for $10.00 and under, easily. but i believe that every girl deserves to treat themselves to something so luxurious every once in a while.
i am so afraid to use my lipstick, because it's like the most beautiful thing i own and i don't want to waste it. i tried just a DAB of it on my lips the other day. i want to save it forever, and just look at it. you may think me crazy, it's just a lipstick. but it is Chanel... *sigh*

the shade i bought was #13 - Gardenia. it was really difficult to choose a shade because i wanted a good pink colour for easy everyday use (funny because i plan to hardly use it at all). my mother helped me choose this one, it is hard to describe the exact colour of it. pinky-mauve-rougey red. it is more on the blue side of pink, with beautiful blush red undertone. see? very hard to describe.

this swatch was probably one of the WORST ones i could do, it looks like i burnt myself on a curling iron or something, plus it's slightly blurry... i'm not technology savvy at all. but you can slightly see the shade here of Gardenia, a sheer pink-y red color. tres belle.

i'm even going to embarrassingly admit that i framed the petit Chanel bag this lipstick came with, i WILL be putting it on my wall at some point, lame. i know. but can you blame me ?
anyways, i am super thrilled about purchasing my Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick, it is so moisturizing and feels amazing on the lips. i don't regret spending the $40 on it. i will enjoy having this in my collection!

happy monday to you all. xx

REVLON | "pink in the afternoon" lipstick

hello ladies. ever since i first saw "breakfast at tiffany's" with Audrey Hepburn, i have always been DYING to know where i could get a similar shade of lipstick. i am an absolute fan of the nude pink lip, but it was her particular shade that i have been keen on. and i think... i may have just found the one.

It was this scene where she applied her lipstick where i went goo-goo-ga-ga for the shade of it. it is honestly a "my lips but better" color. i'd type into pinterest and google "audrey hepburn breakfast at tiffany's lipstick color" and it actually said that Revlon "pink in the afternoon" was the same shade! so heck ya, i had to go the next day and pick it up.

this is Revlon's Creme lipstick, in 415. it cost me $9.00, which is not cheap for a drugstore lipstick but for obvious reasons, i just had to have it. if there is a makeup product out there that is going to make me similar to Audrey in any way, I AM GOING TO BUY IT. she is in fact the queen of beauty!
the formula of this lipstick is absolutely amazing. it is moisturizing, has just the right amount of sheen with a really beautiful nude pink color. the perfect lipstick for any day and any look.

i would HIGHLY recommend you guys pick this one up, it is lovely. i will be wearing this Revlon lipstick mostly everyday. i am thrilled that i have discovered this lipstick, i have always been a fan of Revlon, from lipsticks to mascaras and everything in between.

xx.

APRIL/SPRING FAVORITES

another month has passed ALREADY! wow april went by so fast. i wouldn't complain except that where i live there is still snow on the ground and i'm pretty upset about that. all i want is to be able to sit outside and tan my pasty vampire skin! but alas, i won't let some snow bring down my spring fever. i've been enjoying bright colours and pastels this month (as i'm sure 99.9% of you are aswell..) and also i have been loving scented things...candels...lotions...my scentsy warmer with the melts..mmmm. i can't get enough, let's just say that.
to start things off.. i've been wanting a new perfume for a long time now because i've just been spraying an abundance of body sprays and things like that. but i wanted something a little more potent than just a spray. something that would last. i will eventually go to one of the booths and get a higher end perfume but i was in bath an body works and i saw this little guy called "be enchanted," and of course *SQUIRREL* the bottle amused me. it has sparkly branches and it's just so dang pretty, and i liked the scent too... so that was good. it is one of their new fragrances and i quite like it. i'm a big fan of sweeter scents. not too floraly, just somewhere in between. i can't even describe this scent to you, but it's really lovely. just an easy scent to have on no matter where you're going. it is just a pretty girly scent, and i recommend that some of you take a whiff of this next time in you're in bath and body works. ($34.99) also, i don't have pictured separately but they're in the first picture..but i bought two new candles from bath and body works called "pineapple mango," and "bahama fizz." oh my god, they smell incredible. i always have a candle burning in my room and just recently tried out the "pineapple mango," its amazing. i'm saving the bahama fizz for later, because it is definitely my favorite. bahama fizz smells like a fruity coctail. it's just ahmazing. GO SMELL. also... i received a lotion for free so i picked out the "bali mango," wow... it smells incredible. see, i told you i love scents.. it's awful. i just love this lotion, i'm not using it because i don't want to use it up yet.. i still have so many to use up first.
and to keep on the bath and body works train i bought the Rose Salve balm. but this is no ordinary lip balm..oh no.. it can be used for face, lips, cuticles, elbows and knees. pretty cool, right? for one i love the tin, it looks so vintage. the scent is nice, and subtle. nothing overpowering. it does work nicely as well. i put it on my lips before bed, and it lasts all night. it is $6.50. another lip treatment that i have been using religiously is of course EOS lip balm - $4.00, but i forget what scent it is.. something fruity. this lip balm of course is not the best one i've ever tried, but i still really like it, it's a handy little thing.
another item i have been enjoying are my coral rose earring studs from Joe Fresh at any superstore in canada. they were $8.00, and i just think that they're so cute and add so much to any drab outfit. nice and spring/summery and just the perfect pop of color without any effort. (my favorite kind).
a lip colour that i have been liking this month is revlon's super lustrous lipstick in matte 002 pink pout. i've said before that i'm a huge fan of matte lipsticks, i know that it is a hit and miss with most people. but i have been really enjoying them. i love this shade, it's super natural with just the right amount of pigment. a very easy colour to throw on when you're in a hurry to get out the door. it goes with any look, and it is just a nice light pink, but not a barbie pink.. i hate that. i find that it lacks some moisture but it's great with a lip balm applied underneath. it's about $8.00 at any drug/grocery store.
i have pictured in the first picture a blush i have been loving lately. i have just recently been getting into wearing blushes every day. it adds some flush to your cheeks, which i appreciate because i haven't been getting any sun at all. it's by covergirl and it is called "instant cheekbones" contouring blush in shade 230 refined rose. it has three different shades in the pan, but i swirl my blush brush in all three and sweep it over the apples of my cheeks toward my hair line. i have some intense blushes in my possession, but this one is nice and subtle. i don't want it to be obvious that i'm wearing a crazy amount of make-up, especially with blush. i often see a lot of girls who pile on the blush to the point that it looks like they've been slapped across the face. not particularly the look i want to go for... i have more of an olive skin tone, so i find this shade works the best for me. i don't look too overdone. i don't remember how much this blush is.... i think maybe around $6.00 ( but don't quote me on that).
and last but not least i have been LOVING hair wraps this month! they look cute with your hair up or down. it looks very island-y. i like to wear them if i'm just sporting leggings with a white or plain coloured sweater or shirt, and a hair wrap basically transforms your look. the two i have pictured at the top there are a couple of my favorites. the paisley one is from forever 21 and was about $4.50. they had a couple different colour versions of this but i'm a big fan of anything red, so i went bold. and the coral one is from a shop we have in this city that individually owned with a lot of trendy pieces it was $12.00, and i believe the shop was called "out of the blue." i also have a polka dot bow one, that's so adorable, but i have unfortunately misplaced it somewhere in my hurricane of a bedroom.... oops. it'll turn up someday.

anyways, those are all of my april favorites... and i can't wait to try out some more products for may, etc. sorry that this post was all over the place, i couldn't control my thoughts, they were just flying all around. feel free to tell me what your favorite items were this month so that i can perhaps try some new things out!

xx, love
