AMERICAN BEAUTY HAUL | part 1

hello everyone! i've missed y'all so much. i went with family to the USA for Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend for a little mini getaway. i was sooo looking forward to being away from work and all of that for just few days.. and i unfortunately spent quite a lot of money.. whoopsie. 

since i purchased so many make-up items i decided to split it up into 2 parts so that this post wouldn't be too long or too boring for you guys to read. these items are all from K-Mart and 'The Dollar Tree' (strange, i know). also, i am in no way BRAGGING about buying any of these items, i am actually having buyers guilt at the moment because of what i spent. 

Wet n' Wild "rose champagne glow" by Fergie $5.99

I have been seeing TONS of blog posts about the Fergie line by Wet n' Wild. all of the items looked so beautiful and it really took Wet n' Wild to a whole new level. my goal in the USA was to purchase items that aren't as easy to buy in Canada, so when i came across the wet n' wild stand at K-Mart i just had to have a look. this is a beautiful illuminating powder. i love the swirly-ness of the powder, it looks amazing. when swatched it is just a really nice champagne/pink colour. 

E.L.F blush in "mellow mauve" $3.00 

in Canada (well at least in my area) we don't have any e.l.f stands or displays at our stores, so we have to buy the products online, but i have seen E.L.F in dollar stores and Winners (oddly enough). but i found the e.l.f display at K-Mart, and since i love the products so much, i needed to pick up something. i wanted some plum toned blushers for Autumn so i seized the perfect opportunity to do so. unfortunately my camera didn't catch the exact colour of the blush, it is darker in person. and i have to say that i am obsessed with the packaging of this. it is so sleek, and comes with a mirror. for only $3.00 you can't go wrong with e.l.f. 

Wet n' Wild Limited Edition coloricon eye shadow trio "a regular at the factory" $1.70

again, another product i have seen all over the blogging world. i couldn't find these limited edition wet n' wild eyeshadows in Canada, even though i'm sure you could find them at Wal-Mart or something.. anyways, this one was in the Clearance for a $1.70. i'm not even a huge fan of the colours of this, it's a little too out there for me, but i figured for Halloween or something i could work with it. it was so cheap that i just bought it without really thinking. oh well. 

Maybelline 24 hr Colour Tattoos in "pomegranate punk" $7.00 

i also wanted more berry toned eyeshadows for autumn, and at K-Mart their maybelline products were "buy one get one for 50% off," so i bought the colossal (which you'll see at the end) and this colour tattoo for the 50% off. i am obsessed with Maybelline's Colour tattoos, i think that they are amazing quality. i can't wait to play around with this shade, and i think it will look really nice on brown eyes. 

e.l.f. Matte Lip Color in "Praline" and "Rich Red" $1.00

these were my big "dollar tree" purchases! i love going into a dollar store and end up finding decent brand items for really cheap. i have a few of these Matte Lip Colors already and i love them so much, and for a dollar, i'd be silly not to buy these. they aren't too matte where it dries out your lips or anything, they have a really nice formulation to them. they are really easy to apply because they are like a lip liner/lipstick in one, so you are really precise when applying these. love them! 

Colossal "smoky eyes" instant volume mascara $7.00 

and lastly, i bought this mascara because i had previously saw it on MacBarbie07's september favorites video, and thought that i should try this out, because -to be honest- i wasn't a huge fan of the original colossal mascara, and she said that this one was better. this one was the other item i purchased with my 24 hour color tattoo to get the 50% off deal. i can't wait to see how this one turns out!

LIEBSTER AWARD

I was recently nominated for a Liebster Award by michaela-la (thank-you very much, i'm honoured). and i just figured, why not give this a go?! 

how a liebster award works is that us bloggers basically nominate each other as long as they have under 200 followers on their blog. it helps to get new blogs out there and recognized. 

the rules are: answer the questions your nominator has asked you, and then nominate 10 bloggers with under 200 followers, and inform those so they are aware that they have been nominated. lastly, develop 10 new questions to ask your nominees. easy enough, right?! so let's get to the questions i've been asked... 

1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ITEM OF CLOTHING IN YOUR WARDROBE? 

tricky, but i think my favourite would have to be my oversized union jack jumper that i ordered off of ebay from hong kong. it's the kind of clothing that is so different, and so unbelievably comfortable as well. i have gotten loads of compliments on it, and it was only $19.00. definitely my go-to piece. 

2. WHAT IS ONE MAKE-UP PRODUCT THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO TRY, BUT HAVEN'T GOT AROUND TO YET? 

there are definitely so many that are on my wishlist, but as of late i would have to say the Estee Lauder Eyeshadow duo in the shade Raisins. it is one of the more hyped up products lately, but it is just so gorgeous! i love the mauve-purple shades, and i think on brown eyes it would look amazing. ah! 

3. WHICH WOULD YOU RATHER GO WITHOUT, BRONZER OR BLUSHER?

i have been thinking of an answer over and over in my head.. and i think i'd choose to go without blusher. i have a square shaped face, and i depend on bronzer to define my cheekbones and contour a bit. i have become a bit of a blusher junkie recently, but bronzer is my staple. 

4. CURRENTLY, WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PERFUME? 

i am the kind of person who gets terribly bored of different scents easily, but i have found a perfume that i adore.. and that is Chanel Chance- au fraiche (the green one). they have three versions of the Chanel Chance, all are lovely, but the "au fraiche" just has a beautiful summer scent, a nice mixture of sweet and floral without being overpowering. and like the title, it smells soooo fresh, like you just had a shower. i love that perfume so much. 

5. WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE BEAUTY BLOGGER? 

other than the obvious Zoella... i do have a couple beauty bloggers that i follow religiously and they are Maya from Spider Leg Lashes, and Laura from lisforladybird. they are always the couple blogs that i regularly check up on for new posts. i love the products they choose to write about, and they are constantly influencing me to buy certain products! check them out. 

6. OVER THE YEARS, WHAT IS THE BEST BEAUTY TIP YOU HAVE LEARNT ? 

the best beauty tip i have learnt would have to be ... contouring and knowing where are the right points to place bronzer and blusher. it is actually amazing what make-up is capable of. 

7. HOW MUCH IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM IN YOUR MAKE-UP BAG, AND WHAT IS IT? 

the most expensive item in my make-up bag is my Kat Von D- Tattoo Lock It foundation from Sephora. it was $40.00 and i'll probably unfortunately never repurchase it again... i have found better foundations that are $11.00 from a drugstore.

8. HAVE YOU EVER MADE ANY MAJOR BEAUTY MISTAKES?

the biggest beauty mistake would have to be layering foundation and powder over my acne in high school. it wasn't until much later that i realized that literally cake-ing on foundation doesn't help hide blemishes, only makes them stand out that much more, and ultimately makes your acne worse, cause your skin can't breathe.. yikes. 

9. FASHION WISE, WHO INSPIRES YOU? 

i absolutely love Lily Collins' fashion sense, she has great street style and looks stunning on every red (or whatever shade) carpet. she often wears plaid, or oversized pieces and makes it look like a million bucks. and when she's out promoting her latest film, she always looks fabulous and classic. bold lip and her iconic thick bold brows. can you say, BROW ENVY?!  she reminds me so much of audrey hepburn. 

10. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

my favourite thing about blogging is being able to connect with other people who enjoy the same things you do. i often think of my blog as an online journal.. only about fashion and make-up. i feel like this is our little community and most people out there wouldn't give a crap about what you picked up at a drugstore, but us bloggers all understand the joys of it all. i wouldn't change it for anything. :)

TAG - WOULD YOU RATHER | beauty edition

hello everyone. i recently saw this post on Spider Leg Lashes blog, and thought "hey! why not." i love doing posts like this.. i find it entertaining, and it gets you guys to know a little more about me. so without further ado "would you rather... beauty edition!" 

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

i think all of my palettes and eyeshadows. i've only recently started wearing eyeshadow, and i did just fine without it before. mascara, eyeliners & lipsticks are my life.. 

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

oooh this is a hard one... my hair is like my child. honestly.. never be able to cut it again. i love having long hair too much to actually cut it all off. 

Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

pink cheek, all i've been using are pink shades. i find they go best with my olive skin tone. believe me.. i wish i could wear coral.. i haven't been brave enough yet. 

If you had $1000 to spend, Would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

oh gosh... these questions are harder than i thought.. $1000 on clothes. yes. i find that spending money on clothing makes more sense. 

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

lipstick as eyeliner. adding a bright pop of colour is really in right now so you could make it work somehow.. as long as it wasn't a red lipstick. 

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

sephora. definitely. i rarely buy at mac, but sephora has a lot of options and brands and products. sephora is the mothership! 

Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

one eyeshadow colour. i basically only use one anyways, and i love playing around with different lipsticks and lip products. 

Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

wear winter clothes in summer. there's nothing i love more than a baggy oversized sweater. 

Would you rather dark nails or bright nails all year round?

i tend to get sick of nail polish quickly.. dark nails. less obnoxious than bright coloured nails. 

Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

favorite lip product. my favorite eye product is my mascara.. and mascara is a staple in my make-up routine. 

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a pony tail or a messy bun?

pony tail. i could never get the perfect messy bun.. i'm not sure if i have too much hair or what. but a pony tail is the most i can do. 

Would your rather never being able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

forsure never wear lipgloss.. i have never been a fan of it. so goopy and sticky. bleh! 

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all? or sharpie them in everyday?

sharpie them in everyday. have you ever thought of someone without eyebrows?! one of the funniest things. i'd rather look ridiculous with drawn on eyebrows. 

Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

live without nail polish, no competition!
